On Call Care at home, arranged by you

Care at home, from a carer you choose.

On Call introduces families to vetted, self-employed carers nearby. Post what you need or browse carers near you, agree the help, the times and the rate together, then read a note after every visit.

Two ways to find a carer

Families post

Say what you need

Who the care is for, the days and times, and the help needed. Carers nearby see the post and offer to help.

Or browse

Choose from carers near you

See each carer's rate, skills, the days they are free and how far away they are, then ask the ones you like.

01 For families

From a first post to a carer at the door.

You stay in charge of the care. You and the carer decide what happens, and On Call keeps the paperwork straight.

  1. Post what you need

Who it is for, the days and times, the help needed and your budget.

  2. Find your carer

Browse carers nearby, or let carers who see your post offer to help. Everyone is free to say yes or no.

  3. Agree and sign

You both sign a short agreement: the days, the tasks, the rate and the notice.

  4. Notes and messages

See each visit, read the carer's note and message them directly.

  5. One monthly bill

One bill a month for the visits that happened, with Cura Vita's fee shown as its own line.

You choose who comes
The carer is the one you asked, on the days and times you agreed together.
The terms in writing
Days, tasks, rate and notice, signed by you both before the first visit.
Free to change your mind
Either side can end the agreement with the notice you both signed up to.

02 For carers

Work for yourself, with the paperwork done.

You are self-employed: you set your rate, choose your families and decide when you work. On Call brings the families and keeps the records.

Your own rate
Cura Vita's fee is added to the family's bill on top, so nothing is taken from what you earn.
Work near home
Browse care posted near you and offer to help, or answer families who ask you.
Your choice of families
Say yes or no to any request. Declining never affects your listing.
Paid weekly
For the visits you complete.
What you need to join
  • An enhanced DBS check
  • Public liability insurance
  • Two references
  • The Care Certificate or equivalent

03 Vetting

Nobody is listed until the checks are done.

Cura Vita checks every carer's documents and talks to them on a video call before their profile is shown to any family. A check that runs out pauses the listing.

Every carer is interviewed before listing.

  • Identity and right to work

Checked against the carer’s own documents.

  • Enhanced DBS

Recorded with its certificate number and date.

  • Two references

One from an employer, one about character.

  • Insurance and training

Public liability insurance and the Care Certificate or equivalent, with expiry dates.

  • An interview

A video call with Cura Vita before listing.

  • Concerns taken seriously

A safeguarding concern pauses the carer’s listing while it is looked at.

04 How On Call works

An introduction, not an agency.

If you want an agency that plans and manages care for you, On Call is not that. Here is exactly what it is.

A carer's hands holding an older woman's hands on a knitted blanket
  1. Carers are self-employed and set their own rates.
  2. Carers accept or decline any request, and declining never affects their listing.
  3. The family and the carer agree the tasks between them.
  4. Medication is prompting only.
  5. Cura Vita never sets rotas, care methods or care plans.
  6. Cura Vita never supervises carers.
